Marian Night hours with weekends off are perfect for Marian.
A nurse in training, Marian juggles school, two part-time jobs and the care of two teenage girls. She learned about CleanPower when she was delivering the newspaper and saw our corporate office on her route. Night hours, with weekends off, work perfectly with her hectic schedule. “You can’t find many jobs that don’t require weekends,” she observes. Marian is now a supervisor at a multi-tenant building. She finds the clients are very good to her. “They know me by name and know that I’m working to be a registered nurse.” Her manager knows that she does little extras that are not necessarily part of our duties but as someone who takes pride in everything she does, it comes naturally to Marian. Marian lives just five minutes from the building she supervises, which is ideal for this busy single parent and student. “I know what has to get done each evening and can go home confident that we got it accomplished. Then all three of us do homework together.”
Chris “CleanPower likes to promote. They see potential.”
“CleanPower is paying for my Durango,” says Chris. He has worked part–time jobs for years to have some extra cash for cars and other interests. With CleanPower for three years, Chris has stayed because “CleanPower likes to move you up and promote you. They see potential.” Chris started at a corporate headquarters in Racine and was promoted to supervise a medical facility. Chris was then chosen to supervise a new medical account. His full-time job is as a custodian at a local technical college. “The work is not tiresome or stressful, and I like to supervise,” says Chris. His relationship with our client is a good one, which helps Chris and his team make things run smoothly. When he is not working Chris likes to watch his daughters ages 10 and 12 play basketball.
Lakita With the extra money she saved, Lakita bought a house.
Lakita has worked two jobs for years to fit around her primary job as mother to three children ages 10, 8 and 5. Her uncle worked for CleanPower and suggested she give it a try about three years ago. “I have worked at other cleaning companies. But CleanPower recognized that I did a good job and promoted me.” Lakita started at a multi-tenant building and worked at various locations before being made a supervisor at a suburban office building. Lakita’s job with CleanPower supplements her income as a bartender. With the extra money she saved, Lakita has just bought a house. On the weekends, she enjoys taking her kids out to dinner and a movie. “And I love to shop,” she admits!
Jose Jose’s new full-time position is helping him master English as a second language
About five years ago a friend referred Jose to CleanPower. A full-time machine operator at a packaging company, he was looking for some additional income from a second job which was not high-pressure. Jose now works full time for CleanPower supervising a corporate headquarters facility. “CleanPower notices when a person does a good job and they give them a chance at better positions – you can go up and up, “ observes Jose. His new position with CleanPower is helping Jose master English as his second language. Attending a technical college in the mornings, his job as a supervisor gives him the chance to speak English on a regular basis. Jose appreciates that his manager is helping him learn his new role. He is enjoying his new work environment – “very pleasant, quiet and comfortable – very different from the factory I worked in.” In his spare time Jose like to run, watch movies and spend time with his girlfriend and baby daughter.
Shelonda “It’s the people. They make you want to stay”
With CleanPower for over 4 years, Shelonda did take a break to help her mother following surgery. “It’s the people,” she says. “They make you want to come back and to stay.” Employees like Shelonda are always welcomed back when the time is right for them.
Shelonda works full time in the mail distribution department at a large company in downtown Milwaukee where she has been for over ten years. Her manager at CleanPower approached her about taking on additional supervisory responsibilities. “I was apprehensive at first, but they encouraged me and told me I could do it,” she remembers. Shelonda has built a strong relationship with our customer; “They set out thank-you cards for our crew and put aside food for us after parties.”
For Shelonda the best part of her schedule with CleanPower is no weekends so she can spend the time with her two daughters. Her extra income has helped pay for her older daughter’s studies in police science and communications and will soon help the second – now prepping for the PSAT.
Stacie Stacie came for a summer job and never left.
Stacie came for a summer job last year and never left. Attending a local technical college, Stacie needs the income and the flexible scheduling that CleanPower can offer to work around her studies and other responsibilities. A former member of a local dance troupe, Stacie also teaches dance part time. Her mother, who also works at CleanPower, thought the job might be a good fit.
Stacie works as an area cleaner at a variety of office buildings, filling in for vacations. She finds that supervisors take the time to make sure she understands each new location and client’s expectations. She loves the clients at the building she cleans on a regular basis. “There are a lot of late night workers. The atmosphere is great and everyone is very nice to us,” observes Stacie.
A soccer fan (and former player) Stacie is hoping to start a retail clothing business with a friend.
